PPC Engines that work
** This has been updated
I have been dabbling in PPC (Pay Per Click) Affiliate Marketing.
I have gone through a ton of different places for traffic, and found some that work and some that don't.
Some of these are going to be obvious, but some might not be.
PPC Engines I have been able to make a profit using:
1st Tier:
AdWords
Yahoo Sponsored Search
MSN AdCenter
2nd Tier:
LookSmart
AdSonar
SuperPages
3rd Tier:
7Search
Enhance
SearchFeed
goClick
PPC Engines that I have consistently lost money using:
(and yes I know some of these share traffic with engines I have marked as profitable)
Ask
Miva
Kanoodle
IndustryBrains
ChaCha
AdBrite
ContextWeb
Niche Dependant
You may have noticed some PPC engines with Bad Reputations in my "Making Money" list.
In my experiments and tests, it really seems that these PPC engines are Niche Dependant.
This Means that a Niche will not always produce positive results in every PPC engine.
Thats why I have kept my accounts active with all of them. If the niche I am testing produces zero positive results, it doesn't mean that the next niche I try won't work.

You should try this search advertising system, it was created for small businesses. they even have a free account.

Jigadig .. hmm.. looks like P2P meets MLM. Yeah sure its free, but you have to get a bunch of people under you before you get traffic.
Hrm, I was just checking out Jigadig, doesnt seem MLM and not sure what you mean by P2P...it's just and advertising system. The more people you refer, and the more people they refer, means you earn more impressions.
Basically, you're referring for impressions instead of paying Google or some other company oodles of money for impressions. Which would you rather do?
Seems pretty straight forward, if you've got a quick 'n dirty way to refer, semi-popular website, email list, blah, then it shouldn't be much of a stretch to just note it somewhere and people will click through.
Seems like you forgot the comprehension part of reading john :)
You must be joking.
Look at this on their site:
"This diagram will show you the potential traffic you can earn for referring users and webmasters."
http://www.jigadig.com/images/diag-basic.gif
That is basic Pyramid MLM stuff.
And it isn't really free.
"Once you share our confidence in this system, you have 3 advanced upgrading options available to you. You'll also earn 20% commission on any webmasters you refer that decide to upgrade."
That doesn't seem free to me.
And you are suggesting that you spam people to get referrals. (And on top of that you try and insult me.)
jigadig is even less likely to get traffic from me at this point....
Look, I create an account and they have this:
Congratulations! Your Ad Center account has been created!
"John, this is a one time offer that expires when you leave this page, so please take a few minutes to read this very carefully:"
... Upgrade and spend money, with even more pretty pyramid scheme graphics:

This looks pretty MLM to me.
I'd rather pay for targeted traffic then spam people to generate hits so I can get free impressions.
Interesting idea, but no thanks.
Hi John,
I apologize for whoever defended Jigadig above and insulted you while they were at it.
That wasn't polite. I'm the CEO and creator of Jigadig.
I'd appreciate it, if you'd really take a look before you just put it down.
Yes, it has an aspect of what some people call pyramid, but that's just so we can rightfully give people their share of targetted advertising for building Jigadig up.
If you have a better way for us to track and give advertisers/afiliates a fair share then let me know.
Also, I believe you didn't really take the time to get the full jist of the pin it feature and the viral marketing that can build for someone by literally only inviting 10-20 friends to the site.
The social networking and friend feature built in, can build anyone without any webmasters to refer a viral flow of traffic.
And John, yes it is free, and anyone will earn free advertising. There however are a few upgraded options. No one is obligated to upgrade right away, however with time if an advertisers is earning thousands and thousands of impressions they certainly might want to know how they can get listed
higher in the placement of sponsored ads.
I mean look at Google, they charge per click and you bid for placement, with our system it's free till you decide you want the higher placement and then you pay one flat fee.
So, please don't be so fast to knock it down, before taking a closer look at all the features.
Josh, CEO
Jigadig.com
LMAO... look I have only had 3 hits on this page today.
1st one:
71.169.XXX.XX <-- XXX.XX to protect his privacy
Mozilla/5.0+(X11;+U;+Linux+i686;+en-US;+rv:1.8.1.2)+Gecko/20060601+Firefox/2.0.0.2+(Ubuntu-edgy)
Came here via a search on jigadig (Then went to page 3, the last page of results and near the bottom found this post.)
http://www.google.com/search?q=jigadig&hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=com.ubuntu:en-US:official&hs=1Ot&start=20&sa=N
--They didn't like what my first impressions were so they decided to say something. Thats cool. w/e
Big props to them for using Edgy though ;)
The Next hit was from me responding.
3rd Hit was from the CEO of the company "apologizing" and all that.
66.30.XX.XX <-- XX to protect his privacy
Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+7.0;+Windows+NT+5.1;+.NET+CLR+1.0.3705;+.NET+CLR+1.1.4322;+Media+Center+PC+4.0;+Alexa+Toolbar)
This leads me to believe these are the same person or they are related some way because no one else was even at this page today besides the google bots, these 2 jokers and me.
Jigagig seems interesting but the traffic levels on it are pretty low for me to bother with at this point. And with games like this... *sigh* There are tons of ways to market something like this; blogspam and personal attacks are not the way to do it. Of course with all the comment activity, there may be more hits on this page .
I must say i know this guy josh. had some sad experiences with him.
As you see he uses ANY means (and by that i must say i consider him a fraud) to get traffic and revenue without bringing something new to the community or to the internet.
He is quite obsessed by pyramidal schemes, as you can see, and the quick buck.
Jigadig will just crumble as many of his projects (check out his Gaim rip off - so called imblaze - died before launch)
Actually the IMBlaze service was sold ...
