John,
thanks for this presentation -- really useful. A technical question if that's okay: Does the vendor evaluation happen in real time and how is that interaction handled from a server perspective? You are forwarding the form info to the vendor (a script on the vendor's server?) and they are doing some type of on-the-fly evaluation to determine lead validity and giving you a thumbs up or down? How is that message sent back to your server?

Hi John,

Great white boarding. I'm a fan of host and post myself, but I do think there is still a place for direct linking. First, I think we should remember that Adwords is a sales related driven medium. Advertisers expect (generally) eventual sales from their efforts. How much content they need to provide depends on their sales cycle and factors of that nature.

I think people clicking the ads also realize that they are ads and therefore are not shocked to be taken to some type of sales page. Smart marketers would probably presell first though. If they were interested in content, they would probably stay within the organic results of a search engine.

The main reason I still use direct linking is that it allows me to test an offer (big fan of CPA offers right now) very quickly. Too many times I've built sites based upon what I thought (in my great wisdom) the market wanted, only to see little results. Direct linking allows me to test the offer. If it does well, THEN I spend more time on host-post and content blogs etc.

Just another view.

Can I shamelessly promote LeadPoint? We are one of the few people that enable you to host and post for lead-gen offers. I'm happy to talk to anyone about how we work -- John wanna do a podcast or the like on creating a site with a host and post offer?

Hey John, Thanks for the post! I agree with you on this subject. Not only are these sites provide real value to internet users but they will also stay profitable for a longer period of time then a typical 1 page affiliate site. <br/>I was wondering if you could do another white board on this but get a bit more in depth. For example what API are you using and where can we get information to effectively set up sets like those you discussed in your video.
