Keyword Tracking Basics

This is a short video I made of how keyword tracking works. Some people were asking me about it. I figured this should be a decent enough overview of how it actually works.

Hi John,
Great info on keyword tracking. I have a situation where I don’t control the conversion page. I run an insurance affiliate site powered by Surehits, which pays on a per click basis. A user comes to the site, enters a zip code, and is presented with a results page on my side with a list of insurance companies. I get paid when the user clicks on one of the companies presented and visits that company’s page, but I have no way of tracking this since the user is leaving my site.
Is there a way to track clicks off of one’s site?
Thanks for any input you might have.
Use subid’s. For every hit log the referrer, keyword, browser, etc.. all traffic info in a database. Give each record a unique number and use that number as your subid. Then you can get a list of subid’s from the affiliate website and use them to pull out traffic that produces revenue.
